Music

Music is an essential part of our primary curriculum. The overall aim of the Music Curriculum is to enable children to use and understand sound as a means of expression and communication.

Subject Lead - Mrs Katherine Raine

The children have the opportunity to develop their ability to perform and compose music with understanding and to listen and appraise music.

As part of the wider opportunities scheme, children in Year 4 receive weekly whole-class tuition in playing the ukulele.

Peripatetic music teachers visit the school and a Key Stage 2 child (years 3-6) may have individual or small group tuition in woodwind and stringed instruments. As these lessons are not an essential part of the National Curriculum; charges are made and parents pay the music teacher direct.
