Science
Science is approached through practical activities, which combine opportunities to explore and investigate, to develop skills and understanding, as well as to acquire factual knowledge of the National Science Curriculum.
Subject Leads - Ms Rosemary Cooke (KS1) and Mrs Laura Fell (KS2)
During Key Stage 1 children observe, explore and ask questions about living things, material and phenomena. They begin to work together to collect evidence to help them answer questions and to link this to simple scientific ideas. They share their ideas and begin to develop their use of appropriate scientific language.
During Key Stage 2 children learn about a wider range of living things, materials and phenomena. They are encouraged to make links between ideas and to talk about their work and its significance, and to communicate ideas using a wide range of scientific language. Opportunities are given to talk about the positive and negative effects of scientific and technological developments on the environment and in other contexts.
