Nursery
Children are eligible to start our nursery from 3 years old.
The school is able to support families within our area and build upon the excellent foundations that you have developed at home. It is our vision to provide high quality education and development for your child in a nurturing and caring environment where they can feel safe, supported and reach their full potential. Having a Nursery here at Cullercoats enables the school to develop meaningful and supportive relationships from the outset with families within our community so that we can work in partnership to encourage, support and motivate your child as they move through our school.
There are opportunities for children and parents to visit our school. Please contact the office who will be happy to make an appointment for you to have a look around and get a feeling for the school.
We endeavour to provide a school environment in which the young child has access to many new experiences. The transfer from home, nursery or play group should be a happy experience.
We look forward to you and your child being part of our school and sharing our journey so that ‘Together – we can develop a love of learning’.

Eligible working parents can apply to receive 15 hours childcare on top of 15 hours universal nursery hours.

Further Information
- As a school establishment, we do not offer flexible hours for this provision. Children are required to attend either 5 mornings 8:45am–11:45am or 5 afternoons 12:30pm – 3.30pm per week Monday to Friday. Additional wrap-around hours can be chosen but whichever days are chosen need to stay the same every week.
- The school supports our many working families by offering breakfast club and after school club (Cullercoats Children's Club) to our pupils. The school has been, and looks set to remain, an integral part of the community.
- Children do not automatically enter reception from our nursery, you must apply to the Local Authority for a place via North Tyneside Council Admissions. Applications must be submitted by January in the year your child is due to join reception. E.g. if your child is due to start reception in September 2025, applications must be submitted by January 2025. We can provide you with support in doing this.

How to Apply for a Nursery Place
Click here to complete a nursery 'interest' form. Alternatively, paper forms can be found in the school office.
What happens when?
Parents can complete an 'interest' form at any time. Your child's name will be added to our list and we will be in touch closer to the time of admission:
Spring Term (January - April) Admission system starts and places offered.
E.g. if your child is due to start nursery in September 2025, offers will be sent out in the Spring Term of 2025.
How are places offered?
Sometimes we have more applications than places available. When we are oversubscribed, a set of admission criteria is used to decide which children should be offered places. Priority goes to those children living within the catchment area of the school and a sibling link. Parents can check catchment areas here.
